Interactive LED panel system

Mnemosyne is a modular interactive LED system for expansive architectural surfaces. Part of Oslo-based Nullohm’s Respondent Elements range, Mnemosyne is the latest iteration of the company’s Dobpler interfaces. Mnemosyne responds to the movements of passersby in real time, mapping their silhouettes as light shadows.

The robust system is suitable for exterior use in high-traffic areas, particularly for the purpose of improving personal safety and comfort. Nullohm installed the system under a bridge in an Oslo neighborhood with measurable success: the surveilling light map now tracks individuals while illuminating what was once a dark space. As a result, vandalism in the area has declined, and local residents take pride in their own interactive public art installation.
