Tensegrity-based sculptural light

The works in the Tensile Series are spatial light sculptures that use tension wires to create a self-supporting structure. The wires that create tension—thus holding up the structure—also provide the electricity. The Tensile Series installations are minimal sculptures and floor lamps represented by layered, interlocking lines of illuminated color.

The wiring is connected to the fitting and not the tube itself, allowing the user to replace the tube when it burns out without losing the structure. The user can also change color filters on the tubes, thus modifying the overall look and pattern.
