Multilayered polychromatic wood bench

In Ripples, Toyo Ito draws his inspiration from the movement of concentric circles formed when a pebble is thrown into the water. The profiles of Ito’s wood seats are reminiscent of anatomical shapes of people of varying statures—men and women, robust and skinny, old and young. Six mm-thick layers in varying colors and types of solid wood are processed on a pantograph to create a polychromatic effect. Horm manufactured Ripples in ninety-nine numbered models, each signed by Ito.
