Dome-based retractable roof

Iris Dome is a retractable roof that opens and closes like the iris of an eye, transforming the space inside smoothly between indoors and outdoors. Metal struts simultaneously carry the load and articulate the movement without the assistance of extraneous elements. The fully self-supporting dome can retract completely to the perimeter of an opening, leaving a view unobstructed by support tracks or rigging.

Rigid covering panels are attached to the structure, gliding smoothly over one another to form a continuous skin covering the dome when fully extended. The Iris Dome’s flexible design can be customized using parametric modeling tools to adopt a variety of forms and profiles.
