Carpet tiles with building-scaled patterns
A Wall Through Wall Carpet is the result of a design strategy for buildings in which the perception of space is united with the floor plan. With the use of computer-controlled carpet printing and tufting machines, it is possible to create special visual and atmospheric effects for a building in combination with a carefully executed carpeting plan.
Newly developed carpet printing techniques can be geared to replicate the repeating patterns of a design in large formats that go on endlessly. Such large repeating patterns can be fully tailored to the functional layout of a building’s floor plan. In this way, every space in an office floor would occupy its own fragment of the building-scaled carpet and would therefore possess a special and unique ambiance. With no one space similar to another, the experience of working in one’s office or walking through corridors stimulates the sensation that the smaller spaces are part of a greater whole. This characteristic strengthens the perception of the spatial quality in the building.
