Flexible incised solid wood

Spring Wood makes use of strategically located cuts to impart solid wood with flexibility. Modern techniques to bend wood, used to create bent plywood furniture, include steaming and lamination. In LaRo Design’s furniture collection, ash is precisely incised in a cross-grain direction to create two-sided, flexible wooden blocks. The collection includes four types of seating: the Original, the Paperclip, Restless Legs, and a three-seater bench called Bridge. In each piece, the flexibility of the wood provides a level of comfort that is unexpected in a square, solid wood seat.
