Anti-corrosion, anti-cracking concrete

The making of cement—the main ingredient in concrete—produces 8-10% of the world’s CO2. In fact, making one ton of cement generates one ton of CO2 gas. Architect and researcher Carolyn Dry has developed a self repairing cement in order to expand the longevity of concrete. Conventional concrete’s porosity makes it vulnerable to environmental intrusions. However, Dry’s new cement makes Self-Repairing Concrete less porous, and also prevents corrosion and cracking.
