Insulated glass unit with tubular polycarbonate core

Expanding on the existing technology of Insulating Glass Units, which consist of a hermetically sealed airspace between glass facings, Panelite has developed a patent-pending version that encapsulates a polycarbonate honeycomb core.

This tubular core has an aesthetic function, a programmatic function (visual privacy) and a technical function (improving thermal performance). The unit modulates light and vision, allowing light transmission while maintaining visual privacy without the need for blinds or other window treatments. The tubular nature of the honeycomb core allows full transparency when viewed head-on but obscures the line of site when viewed from oblique angles. The composition of the units can be adjusted to meet almost any thermal, acoustical, and wind load requirements, as well as a very broad range of aesthetic options.
