Rubberized origami textile

Orimetric is a flexible, structured textile made from geometric patterns derived from origami. Trex Lab Technology has developed a series of material-molding and die-pressing processes that make sharp crease patterns in flat materials, like rubber, leather, and various textiles. The computationally tunable method alters the material properties, making the sheet simultaneously rigid and flexible. Orimetric’s valley-and-mountain tessellation pattern imparts materials with excellent shock absorption, sound absorption, and collapsibility down to 1/8″ (3 mm), and the maximum ridge height is 2 3/8″ (6 cm).
