Featherpanel
concrete — By Blaine Brownell on August 4, 2009 at 1:18 pmDue to more stringent governmental regulations, the exhaustion of natural resources, and enhanced economic objectives, stone is being replaced by alternative materials in architecture and design. Stonelab has developed a lightweight architectural stone called Featherpanel, which is cast in highprecision molds. The use of 3D laser-cut patterns or embossed steel panels allow for a wide variety of textures, shapes, patterns, colors, and sizes.
Featherpanel is less expensive and eighty-five percent lighter than natural stone. It also may be attached via adhesive rather than traditional anchoring systems and may be modified with regular woodworking tools. Moreover, its light weight makes the product particularly appealing from a transportation and construction standpoint.
