Rapid-prototyped fractal growth table

Rapid Protoyping offers designers the possibilities to explore complex forms in a direct and rapid way. CAD data is transferred directly to the prototyping machine via specific software, allowing the fabrication of most shapes.

Fractal Table is an experimental table derived from studies into fractal growth patterns. Treelike stems grow into smaller branches until they get very dense towards the top. Developers Platform/Wertel, Oberfell together with Matthias Bär sought to create a piece that would be impossible to manufacture through another process. Fractal Table is a single piece of SLA in epoxy resin, launched during Salone 2008 in Milan.
