Robotically crafted murals

Colorspaces are robotically crafted drawing installations devised and fabricated by Berlin-based Sonice Development. An autonomous machine with the capacity to move on vertical surfaces applies paint to a designated area using a marker. Over a time span of hundreds of hours, the application of different colored lines forms a dense, multispectral field. The meandering behavior of the robot corresponds to simple algorithmic rules with a few random elements, based on custom-developed software. As a result, the multicolored mural continuously changes as long as the robot remains active.

Sonice Development has created four types of colorspaces for different site-specific installations: Emerging Colorspace, Sensing Colorspace, Rising Colorspace, and Crosshatching Colorspace.
