Elevated automobile storage system with integrated dwelling unit

CarLoft is a vehicle storage system devised to reframe the city-dweller’s relationship with the automobile. In their development of the technology, CarLoft GmbH set out to recreate the experience of convenient surface parking within multiple-level structures in dense urban environments.

CarLoft is made possible by CarLift, a vehicle-scaled elevator that transports the car and driver directly from the street to the CarLoggia, or parking space, adjacent to the living unit. CarLoft allows a driver to park quickly (the manufacturer claims two and a half minutes), provide immediate access to the vehicle, and affords the vehicle owner a higher level of security.

CarLoft could be cost effective, eliminating the expense normally required for excavated parking, and provides a structure more attractive than above-grade parking garages or open parking lots. CarLoft may also be used as an extension of a garden, entertaining space, or other storage space (much like the typical suburban driveway) and promises an interesting future for these driveways in the sky.
